January 2015, Beignet Boogie, was my first ever 5K. My time was 1.05 hour and I truly went from couch to 5K. I had no training, but I had the will to do it. I enjoyed it so much that I dedicated 1- 5K per quarter for the entire year. I definitely reached my goal and 2016 is starting off strong. I did this year's Beignet Boogie in 45.03 minutes. I really wasn't training for this one either, but throughout the year I was doing a great deal more walking and morning routines for myself. It seems as though that has slacked off since the wintry months and rainy season kicked into high gear. Really, that season thing is just an excuse to hibernate, but none the less my work throughout the entire year paid off. I improved my time greatly and even placed 14th in my age group!
Something far greater happened during this run that had never really happened to me, you see, a song came on called "UNSTOPPABLE" while I was journeying midway through the run. It was at that moment I had what looked like a movie playing in my mind of what my life had been like pre-divorce over 14 years ago until my future. I have to say flying away on that jet with my husband of over 13 years surely looked amazing. Tears started streaming down my face and it was at that very moment I felt pure determination all across my face. I just knew that I have what it takes to continue to grow our successful businesses for the long haul and to create a life that our family loves. I did finish the Beignet Boogie 5K, enjoyed the delicious beignets, and am looking forward to my next run at the end of this month.
There are days that we may feel like quitting our race of life or being a businesswoman because the reality is that it very challenging. It's a 5K and not a walk along the beach or in the park. Granted, there are days that are better than others in regards to closing a sale, having more than enough money to pay our blessings with ease, something that we have been waiting for finally comes through, or maybe a resource that popped out of thin air Then there are days that we have no idea where the sales will come from, if the clients will show up, how the blessings will be paid, if we can meet the needs and/or requests of our clients or whatever the demands are at the time. It seems easier to get discouraged than to remain faithful and trust that this will work. Just as my Business & Personal Coach, Kate, told me today that it's a matter of "I get to have Faith" rather than "I have to have faith".
I am lucky enough to get to have faith! I am lucky enough that I get to remain persistent, consistent, and faithful! What are you lucky enough to get to do or have?
I am on a mission in creating a Sisterhood of Businesswomen who are lucky enough to have faith and a full-plate too.
